Establishing closer connections with students

For Kathleen John, an English and Drama teacher who recently moved from Blacktown in Sydney to Temora in regional New South Wales, her teaching career has exceeded expectations, and she hasn’t looked back! Ms. Jon can see the impact she has on her students’ secondary education by living in their community, a sentiment echoed by a newly launched federal campaign to encourage more Australians to “Be that Teacher“.

It’s a rewarding job, and “no day is the same!”

For Courtney McCrone, a primary school teacher at Temora Public School, her job gives her so much joy, “it’s a fun job”. Being part of a community such as Temora’s gives Ms Mc Crone confidence that her own children and her students are safe in the community.

Programs and incentives are the most compelling factor for teachers interested in relocating to the regions, but many are unaware that such incentives that exist!
