To provide high quality support and intervention services to young people subject to a youth justice intervention, their families, and communities with a goal of reducing the over representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in the youth justice system.

Drivers' license: it is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold an unrestricted ā€œCā€ Class driver's licence.This role is designated as Regulated employment as the position provides support services to children and young people and therefore will require a valid Blue Card to be linked with the organisation prior to starting. Please refer to the Blue Card Services website (http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/) for further information.While the position is based Townsville, travel within the region for site visits and to other regional/departmental offices may be required in this role. This may include overnight stays.Where possible, applicants are required to provide a referee who is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.

Key responsibilities -

Deliver support and intervention services to young people subject to a youth justice intervention, their families, and communities in accordance with legislative, policy and procedural requirementsImplement culturally appropriate individualised case plans through designing and mplementing intervention strategies, negotiating with service providers, and linking clients to the services/supports they require (including formal and informal services, government and non-government agencies).Participate productively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team involving a range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers to achieve quality service outcomes.Liaise and develop effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders including families, elders, other key community members, community agencies and Government departments.Undertake a range of record and information management tasks including maintenance of case records, preparation of reports, performance reporting and data entry to ensure casework and organisational accountability.Actively participate in training and development activities to develop and maintain an appropriate knowledge and skills base to ensure that service delivery is consistent with departmental priorities and objectives, service objectives, current trends and relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.Actively participate in and contribute to the good governance and objectives of the directorate and department.Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
