Job Description: Training Specialist

Role Overview

The primary purpose of this role is to take responsibility for all facets of training requirements in line with business goals, while ensuring compliance with the Coal Mine Safety and Health Act and Regulations.

What You’ll Do

  • Comply with Health and Safety Management System and Plans, legislative requirements, and safety directions.
  • Work closely with Group Operations to rollout training programs effectively across site.
  • Stay current on training legislation and company policies.
  • Demonstrate safe working practices and be a role model in workplace safety.
  • Conduct audits to evaluate site training system effectiveness and drive improvements.
  • Deliver training using classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, simulations, and online platforms.
  • Review and maintain the site’s Training Scheme and Training Needs Analysis (TNA).
  • Maintain accuracy of the site’s LMS (Success Factors) against the TNA.

What You’ll Bring

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Experience reviewing training materials aligned with the RII Training Package.
  • Proven ability to design, deliver, and evaluate training programs using diverse methods.
  • Strong knowledge of Mine Training Needs Analysis and competencies within open-cut coal mining.
  • Understanding of how training connects with Safety and Health Management Systems.
  • Working knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and Regulation 2017.

What You’ll Need

  • Previous experience in training, development, and Learning Management Systems.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110, TAE40116, TAE40122) or higher qualification in Adult Education.
  • Strong knowledge of surface extraction operations and RII Training Package.
  • Computer literacy, including:
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Success Factors (advantageous but not essential)
