Meekatharra District High School (DHS) is seeking a motivated and engaging Teacher of Health and Physical Education to join our friendly and supportive team.

The Role

The successful applicant will bring professional knowledge, understanding, and experience to deliver an engaging, vibrant, and relevant Physical Education curriculum from Kindergarten to Year 10. You will ideally have a strong commitment to working collaboratively with students, staff, and the wider community, including coordinating interschool events and school carnivals such as Athletics, Swimming, and Cross Country, as well as whole-school sporting activities.

We are looking for a teacher who ideally:

Has excellent teaching practice and strong classroom management skills. Builds positive, respectful relationships with students to foster engagement and learning. Is highly motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently. Is willing to teach Health Education classes as part of the role.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Meekatharra District High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $8 500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
