Description

At Mingara, we’re more than just a club — we’re a place where our community gathers, connects, and belongs. We’re a home for our people, where flavour, culture, and care come together in every dish. Our kitchen is the beating heart of our space, and we’re looking for a Sous Chef who’s not just passionate about food, but about people, heritage, and the stories that shape us.

This is more than cooking — it’s about creating meals that bring people together, honour traditions, and nourish the spirit of our community.

We are deeply rooted in the culture of our people — from Indigenous to Afro-Caribbean, Latinx, and other communities whose food carries history, soul, and pride. Mingara is a place where music, laughter, conversation, and shared meals reflect who we are and where we come from. We believe food is connection. Food is healing. And food is a powerful way to honour the legacy of those who came before us.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A skilled chef with a community-first mindset and a deep respect for cultural food traditions.
  • Someone with kitchen leadership experience who values learning, mentoring, and growing together.
  • A collaborator who believes in inclusive kitchens, where every voice is heard — from the kitchen hand to the Head Chef.
  • Someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and leads with care and consistency.
  • A chef who is excited to work with local producers, family recipes, and dishes that tell a deeper story.

What You'll Do:

  • Work closely with the Head Chef to support all kitchen operations.
  • Lead by example to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate on seasonal and culturally inspired menus that speak to the community we serve.
  • Mentor and uplift junior team members, fostering a positive and respectful kitchen culture.
  • Assist with ordering, stock control, and ensuring high standards in every dish.

Why Join Mingara:

  • Be part of something bigger than a job — a place that champions culture, connection, and community care.
  • Work in a kitchen where your background, story, and culture are not only respected but celebrated.
  • Join a diverse, passionate team that’s committed to uplifting each other and the people we serve.
  • Enjoy competitive pay, great benefits, and the chance to grow in a values-driven, community-focused team.
  • Free Gym membership
  • Free soft drink and coffee
  • Annual scholarship to the value of $1500
  • 30% Team Discount
