Primary objective
Proactive member of the Emergency Department team supporting clinicians in achieving safe, efficient, and quality patient care.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Works under the direct/indirect supervision of a qualified clinician
2. Responds to requests in a timely, safe and appropriate manner seeking clarification when required
3. Effective communication for efficient patient transfer inter/intra departmentally, including emergency transfer of critical
patients requiring rapid preparation under the direct/indirect supervision of the clinical team.
4. Immediate, efficient team response to emergencies within and external to the ED under direction of clinicians. Act as a
consistent, effective member of the multidisciplinary team.
5. Preparedness/checking/cleaning/re-stocking of equipment, clinical areas, and clinical trolleys
6. Meet defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces
7. Foster a positive workplace culture through role modelling, collegial sharing of knowledge/skills and appropriate behaviour
8. Dynamic movement-standing, walking, manual handling (in compliance with manual handling guidelines) required throughout
shift.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service and proven adherence to confidentially and privacy principles
2. Experience in an acute care environment with responsibilities supporting clinicians via direct/indirect supervision
3. Proven ability to be proactive, working efficiently as a team member as well as independently
4. Able to consistently work shifts providing 24-hour service delivery
5. Demonstrated use of respectful/effective communication skills to maximise productive working relationships and avoid conflict
6. Demonstrated cultural competence
7. Ability to quickly master demonstrated skills and consistently follow guideline/policy directions.
8. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, policies and duty lists and be capable of documenting/reporting incidents, hazards
and other work-related information in an ever-changing environment
Desirable
1. Familiarity and experience with computer software applications used in a clinical setting
2. Completion of a Certificate 3 in Health Care Services or similar certification (or evidence of current enrolment)
