Join our dedicated team at Glenorchy City Council as a Maintenance Mechanic responsible for servicing, maintaining, and supporting Council’s plant and equipment. Working within a small, skilled team, you will help ensure operational efficiency while upholding the highest standards of workplace safety and compliance.
About The Role
As the Maintenance Mechanic, you will:
Schedule and prioritise maintenance work to minimise equipment downtimePerform offsite inspections and respond to breakdowns promptlyDiagnose and repair faults in plant and equipmentDeliver fuel to offsite machinery and maintain clean, safe work areasCreate and update work orders and service recordsCommission new fleet, plant, and equipment for service and decommission old assets for disposalConduct familiarisation sessions for staff on fleet and equipmentSupervise team members and contractors on site, providing mentoring and supportCollaborate with Council staff to share knowledge and foster a cooperative work environmentEnsure all tasks comply with Council procedures, WHS policies, and strategic goals
About You
You’ll bring:
Minimum 3 years post-trade experience in a mechanical role with proven hands-on expertiseProficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and WordStrong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) practices, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership and mentoring capabilitiesCommitment to delivering high-quality service with a community focus
Essential
Mechanical trade qualificationClass C car licenseWhite CardClass LF forklift licence
Desirable
Class MR Medium Rigid truck license
