Here at Simplot Global Food, we're seeking applicants for the position Maintenance Fitter (Casual) for maintenance days and coverage opportunities at our Ulverstone based frozen potato product manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor - Mechanical, the Maintenance Fitter will provide mechanical fitting duties during monthly scheduled maintenance days, shutdowns and day work coverage (as required).

Simplot Ulverstone has a proud history in the local community dating back to 1942, and our location on the banks of the Leven River is ideally situated close to the rich, fertile soils where our potatoes are grown. We process around 300,000 tonnes of potatoes from 165 Tasmanian growers each year, whilst employing over 450 people. Site capabilities / products include fries - coated & uncoated + different cuts, sweet potato fries, potato gems, and hash browns in addition to 8 x automated packing lines. Our customers include the leading QSR chains, major and independent supermarkets in addition to the food service industry.

What You Will Do

Participate and contribute to all site safety activitiesIdentify faults and perform breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipmentInspect, test and maintain machinery & equipment in production areas and the wider plant Perform general plant and building maintenance workWork with a variety of food processing fixed plant incl. food preparation, cutting equipment, high speed packaging equipment, robots, pumping systems, conveyors and sorting equipment - ensuring maintenance per the scheduleAssist with preventative, predictive, breakdown and corrective maintenance activitiesWork in conjunction with other on-site trades (electricians + contractors) to ensure job scope is completed to a high standard specification.Contribute to continual improvement processesWork with automated equipmentUse of MEX (CMMS) and other windows based systemsAssist with annual site shut down maintenance activities

About You

Possess a 100% commitment to health, safety and wellbeing in the workplaceHold a current Cert III Engineering - Mechanical (or equivalent)Ability to provide annual leave coverage (with appropriate notice)Demonstrated experience with preventative, predictive, breakdown and corrective maintenance activities incl. fault finding and troubleshootingExperience in safety & quality systems and proceduresPneumatics and hydraulics experience will be advantageousSound judgment and decision making abilityPossess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills in addition to time management skillsAbility to work proactively whilst unsupervisedWillingness to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening
