You’ll continue your Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology through a mix of on-the-job experience and formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). Working full-time with our industry-leading Host Employer, Wheeler Automotive Truck and Car Repairs you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience maintaining, servicing, and repairing a wide range of heavy vehicles.

What will you be doing?

  • During your apprenticeship, you’ll get to:
  • Service and repair engines, transmissions, braking, steering, and suspension systems on trucks and heavy vehicles
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using specialist tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Carry out preventative maintenance to keep vehicles safe and roadworthy
  • Work with hydraulics and pneumatics systems
  • Learn to dismantle and reassemble components to manufacturer specifications
  • Use a variety of workshop machinery, tools, and equipment safely
  • Keep accurate service and repair record
  • Work within a busy team environment, assisting qualified tradespeople and other apprentices

Who we’re looking for:

  • We’re looking for someone who is:
  • Currently undertaking a Heavy Vehicle Apprenticeship (2nd–4th year) or out of trade and keen to recommence
  • Passionate about the automotive industry and eager to continue learning
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to follow instructions
  • A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Comfortable using tools and equipment, with an interest in problem-solving
  • Holds a driver’s licence
  • This role also requires successful completion of a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screen.
