The Role

As part of the school improvement program, Katanning SHS is seeking a Head of Learning Area- Mathematics. This newly created role offers a rare opportunity to shape the future of curriculum and pedagogy in a regional school committed to innovation and improvement.

In this leadership role, you will ideally lead curriculum design and delivery in the Mathematics learning area, with a strong understanding of School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) requirements. You will be highly valued for championing instructional coaching and staff development, fostering a culture of collaborative professional growth. Promoting evidence-based teaching practices, using our instructional model grounded in Explicit Direct Instruction and the Science of Learning, is also key.

The successful applicant should ideally actively embrace and champion our Positive Behaviour in Schools (PBiS) initiative, helping to create a supportive and respectful learning environment. Driving curriculum and assessment differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students, as well as leading data-informed decision making by using performance data to guide operational planning and targeted interventions, are important aspects of this role. Additionally, modelling and cultivating personal attributes such as resilience, determination, and reflective practice are highly regarded.
