The Principal role requires a senior educational leader who is fully trained and experienced in the International framework and standards, with a strong French immersion background. This combination of expertise is essential to ensure full compliance with three regulatory and accreditation authorities simultaneously. This role is critical to establishing and maintaining accreditation, governance, curriculum alignment, and quality assurance across all three systems. Such a specialised leadership profile is extremely limited in Australia, particularly for a new international school with multi-jurisdictional accreditation obligations.

 

Position Overview

The Principal / School Director is the senior educational and operational leader of the school, responsible for strategic leadership, academic excellence, regulatory compliance, and accreditation across international frameworks, with a strong focus on  French immersion education.

This role is critical to establishing, leading, and maintaining a high-quality international school that meets multi-jurisdictional standards and accreditation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Academic Leadership

  • Provide overall leadership for the school’s vision, mission, and strategic development.

  • Lead the implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of IB programmes.

  • Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, assessment, and student wellbeing.

  • Promote a bilingual and multicultural learning environment with strong French immersion pedagogy.

Accreditation & Compliance

  • Lead and manage accreditation processes and ongoing compliance with:

  • Act as the primary liaison with accrediting and regulatory bodies.

  • Ensure curriculum alignment across International frameworks.

Governance & Operations

  • Work closely with the School Board to ensure effective governance and policy implementation.

  • Oversee staffing, performance management, and professional development.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian workplace, child safety, and education legislation.

  • Manage budgets, enrolment growth, and operational planning in collaboration with senior management.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the school with parents, regulators, accreditation bodies, and external partners.

  • Foster strong relationships within the international and local education communities.

  • Promote the school’s reputation and international standing.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised teaching qualification and postgraduate qualification in education leadership or school management.

  • Extensive senior leadership experience in international or bilingual schools.

  • Formal training and leadership experience in International programmes.

  • Demonstrated experience working within UK-based education frameworks.

  • Strong professional background in French immersion or bilingual education.

  • Proven experience managing multi-jurisdictional accreditation and compliance.

Essential Skills

  • Strategic leadership and organisational management.

  • Advanced knowledge of International standards and international accreditation processes.

  • High-level communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to lead a culturally diverse school community.
