The Opportunity

We are seeking a Macroalgae Bioremediation Technician to support the operation, monitoring, and optimisation of algae-based tertiary treatment systems across existing and future sites.

This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone who enjoys field-based work, applying science in real environments, and contributing to sustainable infrastructure projects that protect sensitive receiving environments.

This role is would also suit recent graduates who are keen to get their foot in the door of a growing biotechnology company and build practical, real-world experience in applied environmental science and bioremediation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operation of macroalgae bioremediation systems, including raceway ponds and associated infrastructure
  • Conduct routine water quality and biomass sampling and maintain accurate operational records
  • Assist with data analysis, reporting, and regulatory compliance activities
  • Support harvesting, handling, and processing of macroalgae biomass for approved reuse pathways
  • Assist with inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor equipment repairs
  • Participate in commissioning, trials, optimisation, and scaling of new systems
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, scientists, operations staff, contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Comply with WHS, environmental, and organisational policies at all times

About You

You are practical, observant, and motivated by environmental outcomes. You enjoy working outdoors, learning new systems, and contributing to innovative projects.

Essential:

  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to obtain Forklift Licence
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to collect and record accurate data
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors

Desirable:

  • Experience or coursework in wastewater treatment, environmental monitoring, or aquatic systems
  • Familiarity with Excel or basic data analysis tools
  • Understanding of environmental regulation or licensing frameworks
  • Experience supporting trials, commissioning, or optimisation activities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00 – $63,000.00 per year
