We are currently seeking a Hire Controller to join our Mackay Branch. This role reports directly to the Branch Manager and plays a key part in being the first point of contact for our customers.

This position would suit someone with strong customer service and administration skills, who enjoys working in a busy, team-based environment. Previous hire industry experience is welcome but not essential — full training and support will be provided.

About the Role

As a Hire Controller, you will be the friendly and organised link between our customers, suppliers, workshop and branch team. Your day will involve a mix of customer interaction, coordination, and administration.

You’ll be supported by an experienced team and systems, and no two days are the same.

This role is ideal for someone looking for a stable, long-term position where people skills and attention to detail are valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing professional, friendly service to customers face-to-face and over the phone

• Handling a high volume of inbound calls and enquiries

• Coordinating delivery and collection schedules for hired equipment

• Preparing and maintaining hire agreements and job documentation

• General administration and data entry

• Working closely with the branch team to ensure smooth daily operations

• Following company procedures and maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance

About You

You don’t need to know everything about plant or equipment — we can teach that. What’s important is your attitude, organisation skills and ability to communicate clearly.

You will ideally have:

• Strong customer service or administration experience

• Confident phone manner and clear communication skills

• Good computer skills and attention to detail

• The ability to manage multiple tasks and stay organised

• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn

• The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

• Basic geographical knowledge of Mackay and surrounding areas

• Must be able to pass a pre employment medical

Experience in hire, logistics, scheduling, fleet coordination,  or similar roles is an advantage but not essential.
A current Forklift licence is highly desirable but not essential.
