Workshop Superintendent

About the Role

Decmil is seeking an experienced Workshop Superintendent to lead the day-to-day operations of our workshop, ensuring all plant, equipment, and fleet assets are maintained to the highest standards. This leadership role is critical to supporting project delivery across our civil, mining, and infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all workshop activities, including maintenance, repairs, servicing, and inspections
  • Lead and mentor a team of fitters, trades, and support staff
  • Coordinate workflow, prioritise tasks, and ensure timely turnaround of equipment
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Manage parts, tooling, and inventory requirements
  • Ensure accurate maintenance records and reporting
  • Liaise with project teams to understand equipment needs and operational priorities
  • Drive continuous improvement in workshop processes and performance

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a workshop leadership or superintendent role
  • Trade qualification in mechanical, plant, or heavy equipment disciplines
  • Strong understanding of mobile plant, heavy machinery, and fleet maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • High commitment to safety and quality standards
  • Experience in civil, mining, or construction environments is highly regarded
