Job Title: Payroll Assistant

Full-time 38 hours per week

Location: Picton NSW 2571 (onsite role)

Remuneration: Market Competitive rates based on experience

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Assistant to join our friendly and supportive Administration team, based onsite in Picton. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a stable, full-time role with a long-standing Australian-owned supermarket group operating across NSW.

Established in 1980, our business operates ten supermarkets across NSW and employs over 750 team members. Payroll is a critical function within our organisation, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with all legislative and award requirements.

Reporting to the HR Manager, this role will support the end-to-end payroll function and provide general administrative assistance to the Human Resources and Finance teams.

In this role you will:

  • Assist with preparing weekly payroll data.

  • Process payroll data in a timely / accurate manner.

  • Manage time and attendance system.

  • Maintain pay records.

  • Update employee records.

  • Calculations as required.

  • Interpreting awards/ agreements/contracts and legislation.

  • Handling enquiries by phone and email.

  • Support HR Manager with reporting obligations.

  • Provide general administrative aid to other departments when required.

Our supportive team will provide on the job training however, previous skills, experience, and attributes we desire in the successful applicant are:

  • Minimum 1 year payroll experience

  • Experience interpreting the General Retail Industry Award

  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance and legislation

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Comfortable handling high-volume data entry

  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills

  • Confident written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong Excel skills and confidence with Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience with Humanforce and/or Attaché payroll systems (highly regarded)
