Join Our Team as a Team Leader Arborist! (2 Positions Available)
Are you passionate about trees, the outdoors, and leading a dynamic crew? Ready to take your arboriculture expertise to new heights—literally? Mackay Regional Council’s Parks & Open Spaces team is looking for two energetic Team Leader Arborists to help shape the region’s green future!
As a Team Leader Arborist, you will:
- Lead and supervise the arboriculture team, mentoring and supporting less experienced staff.
- Contribute to reviewing, implementing, and monitoring operational processes and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure tasks and projects are delivered efficiently, effectively, and on time.
- Assess tree health and risk, providing expert recommendations for maintenance.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and delivering minor projects.
- Manage requisitions and purchase orders for goods and services.
- Meet customer and stakeholder needs while upholding Council’s reputation.
- Support your team with complex arboriculture activities and specialised operational work.
- Take on additional responsibilities as directed by your supervisor, within the scope of your role.
Qualifications
Essential
- Certificate III in Arboriculture.
- General Construction Induction Training.
- Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
- Chainsaw Level 1, 2, & Pole Saw ticket.
- Working at Heights Licence.
- Elevating Work Platform (EWP) high-risk work (HRW) Licence.
- Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) Licence.
- QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent. Note: interstate licences must be transferred to QLD within three (3) months of commencement.
Desirable
- Operate a vehicle loading crane training.
- Use arborist climbing techniques training.
- Undertake aerial rescue training.
- Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) training.
