About the role 

Peninsula Village is currently looking for a Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Umina Beach NSW. 

Reporting to the Executive Care Manager, you will be responsible for undertaking assessment and management of residents using advanced nursing knowledge and skills, particularly you will contribute to improving healthcare services provided to residents and to minimise hospital admissions. This is a permanent full time opportunity with working hours to be negotiated with the successful candidate. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Apply early intervention techniques; provide timely and specialised advanced clinical care to residents, with a focus on prevention where possible.

  • Manage chronic health care conditions, helping residents to address and control their condition for optimum quality of life.

  • Whilst utilising a palliative approach to care, residents will receive optimum symptom management at end of life.

  • Coordinate, complement and work collaboratively with other health professionals and health services, coordinate a range of service providers through referrals or partnerships.

  • Provide specialist consulting and coaching support to nursing staff regarding clinical care and wound management.

  • Promote and drive a culture of continuous learning and development.

About you: 

Essential Criteria:

  • Commitment to engage and align with Peninsula Village ICCARE Values.

  • Current registration and practicing certificate as a Nurse Practitioner with AHPRA. We are unable to consider transitional nurse practitioners for this role.

  • Extensive experience in clinical care, nursing education, supervision and complex wound management.

  • Experience in a flexible, multi-skilled team environment and advanced interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.

  • Commitment to quality improvement through evidence-based practice.

  • Demonstrated flexibility, innovation and creativity which can be applied to the health setting.

  • Effective organisational and time management skills.

  • Strong administrative and computer skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Nursing, with relevant specialty.

  • Prior experience working within a residential aged care setting, with a contemporary consumer-directed approach to care.

  • Demonstrated ability to participate/initiate and or facilitate high quality research.

  • Experience and knowledge of the Medicare claiming system.
