Primary objective
The Reconciliation Officer’s role is to provide accurate and up to date reconciliation and administration of NTG bank
accounts and appropriate internal control over money. They collect, receipt, investigate anomalies and ensure the timely
deposit of public money into official government bank accounts. The unit also provides over the counter collection and
receipting services via a network of Receiver of Territory Monies offices. Reconciliation officers are required to deliver a
high level of service to agencies and external clients in a busy working environment with competing demands.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Reconciliation of NT Government Agency bank accounts including investigation and follow up of outstanding items.
2. Preparing and processing journals to receipt transactions against the general ledger.
3. Monthly reporting on relevant NTG bank accounts detailing action taken to clear outstanding values.
4. Assist agencies with general queries in relation to reconciliation and receipting of NTG monies.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated reconciliation experience dealing with multiple high transactional accounts.
2. Sound numeracy skills with the ability to work effectively in a financial services environment and consistently deliver high

standards of accuracy with attention to detail.
3. Proven ability to conduct thorough investigation and analysis of transactions to identify and resolve unreconciled

anomalies.
4. Demonstrated ability to use Excel to an intermediate level for generation and preparation of reports for reconciliations,

applicable banking software and office administration applications.
5. Demonstrated ability to provide a range of office administration support services with a proven ability to work under

pressure, work independently, maintain confidentiality, using initiative and problem-solving skills to meet deadlines.
6. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and develop professional relationships across a

range of stakeholders.
7. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude, which emulates DCDD values of commitment to service, innovation, ethical

practice, accountability, impartiality, diversity and respect.
