The NPI (New Product Introduction) team are seeking a skilled, solutions-focused boat builder to help deliver Riviera’s next generation of luxury motor yachts.

About the role

New Product Development is where we develop all of our new models.  Reporting to the New Product Introduction Manager, this role involves working closely with the design and production teams to support the introduction of these new models into production.

Responsibilities will include (but are certainly not limited to):

  • Preparation of pre-boat 1 build documentation drafts

  • Delivery of finalised build manuals and documentation  

  • Providing all relevant templates and jigs to production

  • Providing production support for the first boats of a new model – ensuring relevant parts and information are available when required by production

  • Communicating production issues effectively back to design staff and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner

  • Providing expertise to optimise product design to resolve issues at the design stage

About you

In addition to having a passion for boats which is supported by a trade qualification in boat building and previous marine industry experience, we are looking for someone who:

  • Is able to think on their feet and has the ability to solve problems

  • Understands the importance of accuracy and good attention to detail

  • Is self motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Has a high level of written and oral communication skills

  • Has extensive experience in a production marine fabrication environment

Core Trade Skills

  • Hull, deck and superstructure assembly

  • Structural and cosmetic component installation

  • GRP fit-out and accessory fitting (winches, bow rails, small parts)

  • Plumbing system installation (hoses, pumps, tanks)

Problem Solving & Technical

  • Diagnosing and resolving build issues during prototype/first builds

  • Interpreting drawings, 3D models, and build specs

  • Meticulous documenting of build processes

  • Identifying design-for-manufacture improvements

Computer & Documentation

The below is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

  • A willingness to learn is all that is required

  • Comfortable using Outlook, Word, Excel, and Publisher

  • Recording build steps with detailed technical notes

  • Marking up photos and drawings for documentation

A qualification in Boat Building or similar is highly regarded; however, extensive practical experience in fibreglass boat building will be considered equally valuable.
