**Organisation Description:**
Gateways Support Services is a not-for-profit organisation making a positive difference in the lives of children and adults with a disability or additional needs, and their families, for more than 40 years. Recognised for their expertise in supporting people with autism, intellectual disabilities, developmental delays, complex medical needs, and more, Gateways provides services across Geelong, Wyndham, western Melbourne, Warrnambool and South West Victoria.
**Program description:**
*Social Connect* is our program for adult participants, operating weekdays 9am-3pm at Gateways Support Services in North Geelong, offering an opportunity for daily engagement and skills development.
*Recreation program* is for both adult and youth participants, operating weeknights, weekends, and throughout school holidays in various locations, offering an opportunity for group leisure activities and peer bonding.
**Position Description:**
Volunteers is to support Gateways Social Connect and/or Recreation programs:
As a volunteer, you will:
* Assist staff in creating an inclusive, supportive group environment
* Help participants engage in activities that promote independence and social connection
* Support set-up, participation, and wrap-up of activities
* Receive a full day induction regarding the policies, procedures, and purpose of Gateways Support Services,
* Receive constant oversight, support, and access to all relevant materials and resources.
**Skills required:**
* Passion for helping people reach their potential
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Empathy, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving ability
**Commitment required:**
Minimum of 25 hours, flexible across weekdays, evenings, weekends, and school holidays
**Location:**
North Geelong and/or West Melbourne
