Do you have experience working with communities in times of a disaster? Join Mareeba Shire Council’s Communities team and support our community to be disaster prepared and more resilient.
The Role: The role of the Community Recovery & Resilience Officer is to enhance resilience in the community by developing and implementing community development initiatives and programs. Specifically, the planning and implementation of a Community Resilience Network (CRN) and undertaking broad community education and awareness raising to increase levels of disaster prevention and preparedness in the community.This is a temporary, full-time position to 31 March 2027 and is funded under the Queensland and Australian Government’s Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
What You’ll DoUndertake community disaster education and awarenessImplement and deliver a Community Resilience Network (CRN) to support disaster operations and recoveryAssist communities to rebuild and recover after a disasterImplement community development initiatives and programs to enhance resilienceBuild strong relationships with key agencies involved in community recovery
What we are looking for:You will be a natural at connecting with others with experience in:Community development and capacity buildingCollaborating and negotiating outcomes with a diverse range of stakeholdersPublic speaking, facilitation and trainingProject management and reporting
You will also need to be tech-savvy with the Microsoft Office suite and have experience in disaster management operations.
