About the Position

We are looking to welcome a Child and Family Consultant to contribute to the wellbeing of children and families.

  • Level 5 SCHCADS Award.
  • Salary range: $100,784 - $105,350 + Superannuation (pro-rata for part time).
  • Part Time (0.5 FTE), Government funded, parental leave backfill opportunity to 20 November 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively build and maintain working relationships with Child Safety as referrers and partners in the ASC co-response.
  • Respond as a part of the ASC team on referrals and provide expert opinion and consultation on referrals, processes and service connections.
  • Actively engage referred families in the ASC co-response process in line with operational guidelines and Act for Kids policy and procedures.
  • Conduct thorough, practice-informed assessments of referred families’ strengths and needs from a child-focused, strengths-based approach.
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of available support service options within the local community and build working relationships as a referral service.


About You

  • A tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services).
  • Professional registration (if required).
  • Membership of a relevant professional association (desirable).
  • At least five (5) years’ experience working with children, young people and their families who have been impacted by trauma or have experienced abuse and neglect, or more than five years’ experience working in similar roles.
  • Demonstrated specialist skills in at least one of the following areas drug and alcohol, mental health, family and domestic violence, child development.

Other Requirements

  • Eligibility for a positive Working with Children Check in the applicable state of employment in Australia or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • Applicants must be eligible to legally work in Australia and proof of eligibility will be requested.
