Are you studying - or planning to study – at university or in tertiary education? Do you want to make a real difference in your community while gaining valuable paid experience? Council’s Scholarship Program is offering scholarships to support students pursuing careers in fields related to Local Government - all while completing their studies.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking motivated students who are passionate about their community and interested in careers aligned with Local Government. We are especially keen to hear from students studying:

  • Maternal and Child Health (applicants require existing nursing qualifications)
  • Environmental Health
  • Statutory (Town) Planners
  • Civil Engineering
  • Horticulture
  • Risk Management
  • Environmental Management
  • Economic Development
  • Venue Management / Theatre Technician
  • Tourism / Marketing / Event Management
  • Community Planning / Recreation / Project Management
  • Human Resources
  • Procurement

And various other fields

What’s in it for you?

  • $1,000 per semester scholarship funding ($2,000 per year)
  • 7 weeks of paid employment during semester breaks

Who can apply?

  • Open to all students accepted in an approved university | tertiary course, including those already studying.
  • Reside in the Swan Hill Rural City municipality
  • We strongly encourage applications from First Nations and Torres Strait Islander students.
