Position Overview
The Roofer / Carpenter is a key member of Warle Pty Ltd’s construction delivery team, responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of modular and site-built structures. This role combines skilled carpentry with roofing expertise to ensure safe, high-quality delivery of residential, community, and commercial projects.
Working across Warle’s modular manufacturing facility and regional/remote project sites, the Roofer / Carpenter will contribute to structural framing, cladding, roofing, internal fit-outs, and on-site installation works. This position supports Warle’s mission to build strong, culturally connected infrastructure while fostering Indigenous employment pathways in construction.
Key Responsibilities
Construction, Carpentry, and Roofing

Carry out all aspects of carpentry including framing, flooring, cladding, windows, doors, and internal fit-out.

Undertake roofing works including structural roof framing, insulation, sheet installation, flashing, guttering, and waterproofing.

Assemble light gauge steel and timber structures for modular building systems.

Perform repairs, maintenance, and remedial works on roofing and carpentry elements.
Workshop and Site-Based Delivery

Assist with prefabrication of modular building components at Warle’s Darwin workshop.

Travel to remote sites to install roofing systems, modular units, and complete finishing works.

Set out and interpret construction drawings and specifications with accuracy.
Quality, Safety, and Tools

Comply with all Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, including SWMS and daily pre-start/toolbox meetings.

Maintain clean, safe, and well-organised work environments in the workshop and on site.

Correctly use, care for, and maintain tools, plant, and equipment.
Teamwork and Cultural Awareness

Work collaboratively with supervisors, apprentices, and subcontractors on site.

Mentor and support Aboriginal apprentices, encouraging skills transfer and career development.

Respect and follow local community protocols when working in remote Aboriginal communities.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential – Trade-qualified carpenter or roofer (Certificate III in Carpentry, Roof Plumbing, or equivalent experience).

Demonstrated experience in carpentry works including framing, fit-out, and cladding.

Proven roofing experience, including installation of sheeting, flashing, guttering, and waterproofing systems.

Ability to read and interpret construction plans and work to project schedules.

Sound understanding of WHS obligations, safe work practices, and basic site documentation.

Willingness to work in both workshop and remote construction environments.

Ability to travel and work in regional and remote Northern Territory locations.

Desirable – Experience in modular or prefabricated construction systems.

Desirable – Experience working in or alongside Aboriginal communities.
