Torque Enterprises Pty Ltd is a proudly Australian-owned engineering and OEM business based in Mackay, Queensland, with operations across NSW and QLD mining regions. Established in 2011, we specialise in the design, manufacture, overhaul and servicing of underground coal mining equipment — including our own range of Australian-made loaders.

With strong in-house capabilities across Code D mechanical repairs, ExDES-certified engine systems, transmission and hydraulic dyno testing, CAD-based design and custom fabrication, we deliver end-to-end solutions with minimal outsourcing. We are a NATA-accredited inspection body and licensed NSW Service Facility, committed to the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Tradesperson (Diesel Fitter, Heavy Vehicle or Light Vehicle Mechanic) to join our skilled and professional team in Mackay on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a modern OEM workshop environment on specialised underground mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, fault finding and repairs on underground loaders and associated equipment

• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and hydraulic issues to minimise downtime

• Complete overhauls, component rebuilds and part replacements on diesel engines, transmissions and hydraulic systems

• Ensure all work is completed to OEM standards and company procedures

• Maintain accurate service and repair records

• Work collaboratively with the wider workshop team and provide technical input when required

Skills & Requirements

To be successful, you will have:

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Light Vehicle Mechanic

• Current Driver’s Licence

• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and mechanical systems

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

Highly regarded:

• High Risk Work Licence (Forklift, Overhead or Gantry Crane)

• ExDES Maintenance Skill Set

• Hydraulics 1–4
