About UsThe Emergency Services Foundation (ESF) supports the Victorian emergency management sector to prevent the incidence and impact of mental injury for the 139,000 volunteers and paid staff who serve our communityWhile every employer has responsibility for looking after the safety and wellbeing of their people, ESF is the only organisation that is entirely dedicated to the prevention of mental health injury for Victoria’s emergency workers. About the RoleThis role reports to the CEO who in turn works collaboratively with various Board sub committees and reports to the Board. You will be part of a small, highly committed, and high performing team directed by clear strategic intent. The Business Development and Engagement Manager is a new role designed to drive growth. A key function of the role is to devise a funding diversification strategy that incorporates known opportunities to commercialise programs and new prospects in alignment with the broader ESF strategy. The role is key to ESFs ongoing sustainability, and the incumbent will work closely with the CEO to meet KPIs and expand ESFs reach into new markets.Key responsibilities:• Develop and implement a funding diversification strategy aligned with ESF’s strategic and financial goals.• Drive growth by identifying, targeting, and securing new customers / partners.• Achieve agreed sales targets, demonstrating results on a quarterly basis• Develop innovative ideas and opportunities for growth which may include:• Fee for services• Grants• Sponsorships and cause related marketing• Philanthropic partnerships• Social enterprise and commercial ventures • Develop and maintain strong trust-based relationships with key stakeholders, active customers / partners, and potential new customers / partners.• Forecast and report on sales targets and completing key reporting for the Board.• Plan approaches and pitches for new business • Contribute to annual budget development and revenue forecasting.
Key Selection CriteriaEssential• Proven success in a business development role achieving / exceeding target – ideally in a not-for-profit context.• Proven experience in customer-facing roles • Ability to display strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and clear and strong influencing skills. • Excellent relationship building and stakeholder engagement skills.• Demonstrated ability to write high-quality proposals and pitch materials.• Initiative-taker with initiative, resilience, and results orientation.• Current driver’s license.Desirable• Understanding of the emergency services, social impact, community, or nonprofit sectorQualifications and Experience:• Tertiary qualifications in business or marketing• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.Hours and Basis of Employment• Part time 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week)• Hybrid work with a weekly team face to face meetings at a mutually agreed time and place. The ESF has no office location with all staff currently working from home.• Occasional travel within Victoria and after-hours work required.• Salary $133,000.00 (pro rata) plus superannuation of 12%• A phone and equipment allowance of $50 per month
