The Utilityperson - Electrical is responsible for all aspects of the major works throughout the country on Caterpillar, Jenbacher Gas & Diesel engines located at various sites around Australia.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Working on Caterpillar, Jenbacher gas engines.
  • Operations coverage.
  • Assessing parts for reuse and reconditioning engines and other equipment.
  • Supervising apprentices in training and teaching correct work practices.
  • Testing engines on completion of overhaul;
  • Module maintenance and repairs.
  • Involved in removal and installation of engines onsite
  • General housekeeping responsibilities;
  • Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations;
  • Support and comply with Company Policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company’s employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors; and
  • Any other duties appropriate to the level and responsibility of the position as required.
  • Maintain the safety culture to a high standard.
  • Mentoring / training apprentices.
  • Travel to sites around Australia to undergo breakdown activities.
  • Supporting operation in GEMs and shutdowns.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Trade certificate in a Fitting/Plant Electrical trade essential
  • Experience in diesel/gas engine repair/reconditioning highly desirable
  • Experience in Caterpillar, Jenbacher, or any large capacity engines highly desirable
  • Basic computer skills are desirable.
