We are seeking various skilled tradespeople to deliver the first stage of a multi-decade pipeline of work to renew and expand Australian infrastructure in Antarctica. Initial work includes an expedition for the Antarctic summer season for 2026/2027, building new water production facilities, a utility building with power and workshop facilities, and major structural works.

Job Profile

Support the Alliance by providing surveying resources to the delivery of construction activities at Davis Station in AntarcticaComplete surveying tasks with up-to-date survey equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS, digital levels and laser scanningWork with engineers to plan, organise and complete field surveys and ensure cost and project objectives are achievedProvide technical and administrative assistance to the project team as requiredProvide information and advice assist in determining the best sustainable land use and developmentReduce post processing of surveying field data to satisfy engineering design requirementsDraw up plans of land information by recording information, making calculations and plotting information into the required format to investigate the advancement and development of such practicesBuild strong internal and external stakeholder management though positive, proactive and professional communication to keep key people informed regarding project works.Ensure the technical matters associated with the project works are compliant with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals competency and standards and SQE riskRecognised tertiary qualification: Diploma in Engineering Surveying or equivalent formal qualificationRegistration as a surveyor5+ years’ experienceAdvanced computer knowledge with emphasis on surveying packagesProficiency in surveying and design models and softwareAutoCad 12dRevit (desirable)Ability to create and maintain data systems including for design changes, “as built” records and calibration records.Business Capabilities include Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving, Decision Making, Interpersonal Ability, Planning and Organising

Requirements

Successful completion of the selection process: Includes written application, interviews, technical assessments, medical and psychological screening, reference checks and national police check.Valid Passport - The expiry date of the passport (and any relevant visa) must be at least 6 months beyond the planned end date of the expeditionLiving Conditions: While Davis Station offers private bedrooms and comfortable facilities, candidates must be prepared to share and contribute to communal living spaces (including dining and bathrooms), cleaning and other responsibilities. Personal freedoms of movement may also be limited at times due to physical isolation and occasional harsh weather.Support Provided: Pre-departure training, resilience and mental health preparation, and ongoing support for expeditioners and their families throughout deployment
