Position: Full time - Float Educator and 2IC (Second-in-Charge) to the NS
Service Type: Long Day Care – Exceeding Rated Service
Capacity: 88-Place Early Learning Centre
Qualification Required: Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or higher
Experience Required: Minimum 3 years (post-qualification)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated educator and Second-in-Charge (2IC) to support our Nominated Supervisor in the leadership and day-to-day operation of our Exceeding-rated 88-place early learning service.

This is a hands-on role combining a float role working directly with children, stepping in to lead rooms when required, as well as centre-wide responsibilities to support the daily operations of the centre. The successful candidate will have leadership experience to mentor educators, and be able to step into the Nominated Supervisor role when required, ensuring continuity of leadership and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a room, delivering high-quality, play-based programs aligned with the EYLF

  • Work directly with children to support learning, wellbeing, and development

  • Support and mentor educators within the room and across the service

  • Support the Nominated Supervisor in the daily management of the centre

  • Step into the Nominated Supervisor role in their absence, acting as the Responsible Person

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with the National Quality Framework (NQF), legislation, and policies

  • Contribute to maintaining and exceeding the National Quality Standards (NQS)

  • Support quality improvement planning, reflective practice, and documentation

  • Build strong partnerships with families and the broader community

Essential Criteria

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or higher

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an early childhood education and care setting

  • Demonstrated experience as a room or group leader

  • Strong working knowledge of the NQF, NQS, EYLF, and Child Protection requirements

  • Proven leadership, mentoring, and organisational skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Current Working With Children Check

  • Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Management (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a 2IC or leadership role

  • Experience working in an Exceeding-rated service

  • Confidence in compliance, quality improvement, and staff support processes
