Assistant Trainer – Ballarat

McEvoy Mitchell Racing is a leading Thoroughbred Racing Stable with state-of-the-art facilities in Ballarat and Flemington, Victoria.

We are currently seeking a full-time Assistant Trainer for our Ballarat stable. This role is ideal for someone with strong stable management experience, solid horse handling skills, and a genuine passion for racing.

Key requirements of the role include, but are not limited to:

• Overseeing morning stable routines and staff
• Saddling, grooming, feeding, and exercising horses
• Monitoring horse condition and reporting concerns
• Preparing daily worklists and assigning riders (via Prism)
• Attending race meetings, trials, and jump-outs
• Coordinating horse transport and race day logistics
• Supporting staff training, safety, and performance
• Ensuring compliance with welfare and racing regulations

Extensive experience in managing a racing stable is essential, combined with a proven ability to lead from the front and uphold high standards in horsemanship and teamwork. A Certificate IV in Racing is preferred. Early starts and weekend work are required, as well as flexibility for after-hours work, including race days and emergencies, is essential. Accommodation available, current working rights in Australia required.
