Allied Health Assistant (Food Play) – Hervey Bay, QLD

Do you love helping kids explore food without pressure and build positive mealtime routines? Join Spectrum Village – Autism Learning Centre as our next Allied Health Assistant (Food Play) in Hervey Bay.

This isn’t just a support role—it’s about bringing therapy into everyday life and helping children thrive at home, school, and in the community.

What you’ll be doing

  • Food Play & Feeding Support: run play-based, sensory food exploration; prep simple activities; support safe eating strategies set by our therapists.
  • Therapy implementation: carry out programs designed by OTs, Speech Pathologists, and our Dietitian (centre-based).
  • Connection with families: build warm, trusting relationships that make therapy fun and functional.
  • Collaboration: work closely with clinicians to track progress toward individual goals.
  • Documentation: keep clear, timely notes that meet audit standards.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Has experience with children (essential).
  • Is passionate about supporting neurodivergent children (Autism, ADHD, etc.).
  • Communicates clearly, is proactive, team-oriented, and organised.
  • Believes in family-centred, strengths-based care and early intervention.

Qualifications – you could be

  • A qualified Early Childhood Teacher; or
  • A Uni student studying Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology; or
  • Completed (or willing to complete) Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance.

Compliance & checks

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • First Aid/CPR
  • National Police Check

Hours: 10–26 per week – we’ll build a roster that suits you.
