Do you love helping kids explore food without pressure and build positive mealtime routines? Join Spectrum Village – Autism Learning Centre as our next Allied Health Assistant (Food Play) in Hervey Bay.
This isn’t just a support role—it’s about bringing therapy into everyday life and helping children thrive at home, school, and in the community.
What you’ll be doing
- Food Play & Feeding Support: run play-based, sensory food exploration; prep simple activities; support safe eating strategies set by our therapists.
- Therapy implementation: carry out programs designed by OTs, Speech Pathologists, and our Dietitian (centre-based).
- Connection with families: build warm, trusting relationships that make therapy fun and functional.
- Collaboration: work closely with clinicians to track progress toward individual goals.
- Documentation: keep clear, timely notes that meet audit standards.

We’re looking for someone who
- Has experience with children (essential).
- Is passionate about supporting neurodivergent children (Autism, ADHD, etc.).
- Communicates clearly, is proactive, team-oriented, and organised.
- Believes in family-centred, strengths-based care and early intervention.
Qualifications – you could be
- A qualified Early Childhood Teacher; or
- A Uni student studying Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology; or
- Completed (or willing to complete) Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance.
Compliance & checks
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Blue Card (Working with Children)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- First Aid/CPR
- National Police Check
Hours: 10–26 per week – we’ll build a roster that suits you.
