Leading Hand - Heavy Diesel Mechanic

We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to commence with us as a Leading Hand on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on leadership role in which you’ll split your time between technical work (80%) and day-to-day coordination of the workshop (20%), assisting the Workshop Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Service / maintenance of heavy trailers

·         Perform major and minor repairs to trailer suspension and brake components.

·         Carry out tasks including the swap out of major and minor trailer components

·         Support general workshop duties related to trailer repair and maintenance

·         Providing technical guidance and on-the-job support to other trades and non-trades

·         Assisting with job scheduling, prioritisation and workflow coordination

·         Acting as a point of contact for customers regarding service progress

·         Supporting apprentices and contributing to team development

·         Filling in for the Workshop Manager when required

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

·         Trade qualified (Diesel Mechanic or similar)

·         Experience in a Leading Hand or supervisory capacity      

·         Strong technical knowledge of heavy vehicle trailer systems and components

·         A problem-solving mindset and proactive work ethic

·         Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail

·         Ability to work effectively in a team environment

**An MC Licence is desirable but not essential
