The Role
At St Vincent de Paul Society, our Youth Facilitators are responsible for assisting and supporting the local Diocese and State Youth Department to deliver youth programs and promote youth involvement in the Society.
Under the supervision of the Youth Engagement and Development Coordinator, your role will be proactive in achieving the youth objectives of strategic plans by:
- Developing and facilitating school engagement opportunities and workshops that connect school communities to the mission of the Society
- Promoting pathways to Society membership and supporting youth program volunteer members
- Assisting in the implementation and administration of youth programs (sports programs, activity days, and camps) that engage young volunteers and create a safe environment for children and young people (aged 8-17) where social connection and resilience can be fostered.
A key focus of this role will be to increase schools’ engagement and pathways for growth for Brisbane Youth.
This is a Permanent, Full-time position (38 hours per week) role based in Spring Hill. Flexibility to work some weekends is essential.
To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:
- Relevant qualification or equivalent in ministry, community work, teaching/education, or related areas and/or experience in a similar position
- The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Blue Card and undergo a National Police Check.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to work within boundaries and use your well-developed task management skills
- Demonstrate a high degree of motivation, initiative and creativity
- Contribute positively within a team environment
- Demonstrate a friendly, positive attitude, with a willingness to learn
- Effective communication and time management skills
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality
- Demonstrate genuine respect for all people regardless of their situation
- Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
