About the role:
Play a vital role in supporting young people with their learning,
build resilience and achieve positive personal outcomes. Working
closely with teachers and the wider support team, you will provide
day-to-day learning and wellbeing support for students,
particularly those experiencing complex or challenging
circumstances.

This position supports the Primary School and is Term Time Only,
requiring availability between 7:00AM and 3:06PM (76 hours per
fortnight).

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students,
    providing consistent wellbeing and learning support
  • Support classroom engagement by helping students remain
    focused, regulated and on task
  • Calmly de-escalate challenging behaviours using
    trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches
  • Supervise students during breaks, activities, excursions
    and transport duties, ensuring safety and wellbeing
  • Support student attendance by safely transporting students
    to and from school each day

About you:

You are a compassionate and grounded youth worker who genuinely
enjoys supporting young people to reach their potential. You bring
patience, emotional intelligence and a calm presence, even in
challenging situations. You understand the importance of
consistency, boundaries and unconditional positive regard when
working with young people who may have experienced trauma.

You work well as part of a team, communicate clearly with staff
and families, and are comfortable balancing hands-on student
support with required documentation and reporting. Most
importantly, you are aligned with and respectful of
Carinity’s Christian ethos and values, and you bring those
values to life through your everyday actions.

  • Certificate III or higher in Youth Work, Education Support,
    Teacher Aide or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in providing support to
    marginalised young people
  • Ability to relate to youth from different backgrounds to
    build positive, professional relationships
  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • Open Drivers Licence and willingness to drive a 12-seater
    minibus
