Registered Nurse - Nurse Bank | Mackay Base Hospital, Queensland
 
About the Role:
Mackay Base Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses for its Nurse Bank to provide clinical and non-clinical support (RN/EN & AIN) across multiple areas of the Hospital and Health Service (MHHS). This role helps cover gaps in daily service delivery due to leave, roster deficits, emergent sick/family leave, or increased workloads.
 
For the duration of the contract, nurses may be required to work in the following departments:

• Medical G2 Ward
• Medical F2 Ward
• F0 Orthopaedic Ward
• G0 Ward (Acute Assessment, Stroke, and Medical)
• General Surgical Unit (GSU)
• Emergency Department
• Mental Health Inpatient Unit
• Extended Day Surgery Unit (EDSU)

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years' clinical experience in practice setting
• Medical and/or surgical experience required
• Knowledge of ieMR and proficiency in using this system (desirable)
• Previous experience working in Australia, QLD Health, and/or Mackay HHS (desirable)

Contract Details:

• Role: Registered Nurse - Nurse Bank
• Start Date: 02/02/2026
• End Date: 15/03/2026
• Nursing Level: Grade 5 RN
• Facility: Mackay Base Hospital
• Duration: 6 weeks
• Working Days & Hours: As per roster; rotating 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts
• Number of Hours: Maximum 80 hours per fortnight. Overtime applies after 80 hours per fortnight. No overtime on 12-hour rostered shifts.
• Shift Break: 8 hours between the end of one shift and start of the next

Bed and Scope:
The Nurse Bank covers multiple wards and departments as listed above, supporting both acute and specialized care areas.
