About the Team

The Student Services Unit is part of the Division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education and Students) This Division includes Student Services; Institute for Interactive Media and Learning; University Library; Connected Intelligence Centre, Lifelong Learning and Engagement, Student Administration, Postgraduate Learning, New Business and the Student Ombud. The Student Services Unit consists of the University Counseling Service, Health Service, Housing Service, Careers Service, Accessibility & Financial Assistance Service and Higher Education Language and Presentation Support. The University has one 720-bed student residential accommodation building (known as Yura Mudang, or 'the residence') on top of Building 6, adjacent to UTS Broadway Campus (www.uts.edu.au).

About the Role

The UTS Housing Service is recruiting for a Residential Life Officer to play a key role in developing and delivering social, sports, learning, and academic programs across UTS owned and managed residences.

To assist the Residential Life Supervisor and coordinate the Residential Networkers to make sure all events are managed and organised to the highest level. Working with the Marketing and Communication Projects Manager to publicise and communicate events via social media, the web and other formats and channels to maximise student engagement.

The Residential Life Officer - RN and Programs is required to be flexible to work mostly weekdays, but also as required on weekends and evenings for events and at peak periods. This is an onsite position.

If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for: 

• Planning and running residence activities and events that build a positive, inclusive community and support students' learning and wellbeing.

• Helping recruit, train and support Residential Networkers and working closely with the Residential Life Supervisor to deliver engaging programs.

• Supporting smooth move-in and move-out periods and help review Residential Networker scholarship applications before each semester.

• Organising and supporting programs, meetings and large events that enhance student life, while promoting safety, diversity and respectful behaviour.

• Assisting with student wellbeing, safety requirements, record keeping and systems, and step in for the Supervisor when needed.

With examples, please outline within your Cover Letter, how you meet the following key selection criteria: 

1. Good people management, empathy and mentoring skills, with a capacity to work at and across a variety of levels and with a diverse student community and complex social situations.

2. Ability to handle projects relevant for student events, bringing new ideas and creativity to the events, with the ability to have a good practical and hands on approach when required.

3. Demonstrated experience in event management and organisation, with the ability to organise small to large scale formal annual events for 400-500 ppl and VIP's.

Remuneration & Benefits

Base Salary Range: $97,332 - $105,385 pa (HEW 6)

This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
