About the opportunity  

  • The Occupational Therapist – Clinical Leader/Educator (Mental Health) provides leadership and expertise with the purpose of:
  • Building capacity in clinical education practice within an Occupational Therapy Mental Health contexts and drive evidence informed innovations in clinical education for new graduates, students, clinical educators and supervisors.
  • Improving the quality of occupational therapy clinical education for pre-entry students and new graduates by generating high quality evidence informed clinical education strategies and resources making inter-professional links where relevant.
  • Contributing to state-wide consistency of occupational therapy clinical education for pre-entry students and new graduates through reflecting on outcomes for enhancing the capacity for clinical education in mental health contexts state-wide.
  • Enhancing the capability of HP4 Clinical Education Support Officers through professional development, supervision and encouraging implementation of successful initiatives.
  • Actively work within a state-wide program to drive innovation in Occupational Therapy clinical education, raising professional standards and reducing duplication state-wide.
  • Although hosted by the Townsville Hospital and Health Service, the position may physically be located in any district of Queensland Health, dependent upon the outcome of a state-wide recruitment process.

This position is a Temporary part-time role commencing ASAP - 12/04/2026, working 38 hours per fortnight.  There is a possibility of an extension to 12 months.

  • Salary range: $73.12 - $76.30  p.h. (HP5)
  • 4 weeks annual leave (pro rata) with 17.5% loading

Requirements:

  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Occupational Therapy, and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
