Lead a national safety and wellbeing uplift across a large, distributed networkEmbed practical, fit-for-purpose governance, risk and incident controls that support clinics to perform at their bestShape a proactive safety and wellbeing culture that strengthens the care practices that make Australia smile National Dental Care is one of Australia's most trusted and progressive dental service providers, with a national network spanning more than 111+ practices. Driven by their mission to make Australia smile, NDC is committed to clinical excellence, contemporary practice environments and a genuinely supportive culture where people are enabled to thrive. With ongoing growth, investment in technology and a strong focus on quality and consistency, NDC continues to build a high performing organisation where patient care, safety and wellbeing sit at the centre of every decision. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, this role is responsible for leading the implementation, embedding, and organisational adoption of National Dental Care's Health, Safety & Wellbeing Management System, with a strong focus on practical uplift and sustained capability across all clinics and corporate environments. You will set and drive the national HSW strategy and multi-year maturity roadmap, establish fit for purpose frameworks and ways of working, and strengthen governance through clear reporting cadence to the Lead Team and Board. Working closely with operational and clinical stakeholders, you will uplift risk management across physical and psychosocial hazards, enhance audit and assurance programs, and ensure practical controls are embedded in day-to-day operations. This position also leads NDC's incident management and escalation framework, oversees significant investigations, strengthens emergency preparedness and crisis response, builds HSW capability across leaders and teams, and coaches the HSW Business Partner to deliver consistent frontline execution across the network. To be successful in this role you must be a senior, credible Health, Safety and Wellbeing leader with a pragmatic, hands on approach and strong commercial awareness, with proven experience operating in large, complex, multi-site environments such as retail, franchised, hospitality, logistics or similarly distributed networks where leaders are not safety specialists and controls must work in real-world operations. This role leads primarily through influence and capability uplift, supported by a WHS Business Partner and strong operational partnerships. The role will also require strong prioritisation and the ability to balance safety, operational practicality and commercial realities in a fast-moving, multi-site environment. You will be highly capable translating legislation and frameworks into practical operational controls, confident engaging with executives, clinicians, regulators and frontline leaders, and calm, structured and decisive in incident escalation and crisis response. You will bring strong judgement and governance discipline, including comfort with Board level reporting and expectations, and a collaborative leadership style focused on building internal capability and lifting system maturity, not simply policing compliance. Tertiary qualifications in WHS, occupational health, risk management or a related field are required, with investigation methodology capability such as ICAM or equivalent strongly valued.
