St Brendan-Shaw College are looking for a Teacher Assistant to work closely with our Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students.

About us & the role:

St Brendan-Shaw College is a Catholic, co-educational school located in Devonport, North West Tasmania, catering for students from Years 7 to 12. The College is seeking applications to fill a specialise Teacher Assistant position supporting our Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student Support Coordinator as well as our students. The position works primarily between the hours of 8:30am - 3:00pm Monday to Friday during term times only.

Teacher Assistants are accountable for providing effective, quality support to teachers in the delivery of defined educational programs and activities and interventions for students.

About you:

The Teacher Assistant - Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander support is required to demonstrate that they are:-

Able to relate to students with varying needs, exercising judgment and discretion in undertaking dutiesAble to apply literacy, numeracy and reasoning skills to effectively undertake the roleAble to support teachers in deliverying planned education programs encouraging supportive and inclusive learning environments for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander studentsAble to promote awareness of Aboriginal culture within the St Brendan-Shaw College communityAble to have an understanding of cultural diversity and needs of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander studentsAble to collaborate and build relationships with knowledge sharers and the broader Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community. Able to use initiative to resolve problems and conflicts in a constructive mannerFlexible and dependableTeacher Assistant experience preferred

Salary will be in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2024.
