About us
The Member for Bega was elected to NSW Parliament in 2022. Dr Holland has been a passionate advocate fighting to improve rural health services, schools, roads and services.
Dr Michael Hollands Electorate Office is the point of contact for constituents and local community groups to engage with the Member for Bega regarding state government services and responsibilities. They also provide policy advice, media liaison, research and preparation for parliament for the Member for Bega.
Hours of work
The hours of work are 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, with an hour for lunch. The role requires some after hours and weekend work for which an annual All Incidence of Employment Allowance is paid.
About the position
Electorate officers are the initial point of contact for all constituent enquiries. This role involves administrative and communication functions to support the SEO and the Member to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Electorate Office.
Constituent and Community Engagement and Communication
- Act as the initial point of contact for constituents, managing enquiries with professionalism, sound judgement and empathy.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with constituents, community groups, government departments, non-government organisations and other stakeholders.

- Organise, coordinate and attend door-knocking activities to support constituent engagement.
- Initiate and lead community engagement gatherings including compiling invitee lists, issuing invitations, coordinating logistics and managing follow-up.
- Identify and pursue speaking opportunities for the Member by monitoring relevant community forums and events.
- Maintain a strong understanding of government matters, including local issues, current affairs and emerging legislation relevant to the electorate.

Essential Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated advanced digital capability, including web development, website and content management systems and proven experience in managing social media, electronic communications and digital marketing campaigns to drive engagement and effective constituent communication.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a variety of audiences including demonstrated experience preparing correspondence, newsletters, web pages and media releases.
- Demonstrated organisational skills, including the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgement and perform to a high standard with limited supervision while maintaining confidentiality.
- Interest in, and base understanding of, the Australian political system.
