About the role
Our client is seeking a commercially driven Agricultural Consultant to lead high-value advisory and commercial strategy outcomes across the North Burnett region. This role is aligned to an experienced professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong commercial leadership, client portfolio management, and regional business development capability.
The position operates at a senior level, partnering with progressive growers and agribusiness stakeholders across citrus, tree crops, and mixed farming systems. You will deliver independent, evidence-based agricultural consulting while influencing production strategy, input efficiency, risk management, and profitability at a whole-of-business level. The role includes responsibility for managing key client relationships, guiding less experienced consultants, and contributing to regional commercial planning.
Responsibilities
• Lead the delivery of senior-level agricultural consulting services, providing independent, strategic advice on crop production systems, soil and plant nutrition, irrigation efficiency, and integrated pest and disease management (IPDM) consistent with ANZSCO 234111.
• Analyse whole-of-farm performance, financial drivers, and production systems to identify opportunities for profitability improvement, risk mitigation, and operational efficiency for commercial farming enterprises.
• Design and oversee complex, fee-for-service consulting programs, including diagnostic assessments, strategic farm plans, and performance reporting with clearly defined commercial outcomes.
• Manage and grow a portfolio of key commercial clients across the Mundubbera and wider North Burnett region, acting as a trusted senior advisor to business owners and farm management teams.
• Provide leadership and technical guidance to junior consultants and agronomy staff, supporting capability development and consistency of advisory standards.
• Contribute to regional business planning, including forecasting, demand analysis, and identification of new consulting and advisory service opportunities.
• Engage with suppliers, research bodies, and industry partners to ensure advisory recommendations remain current, commercially relevant, and aligned with best practice.
• Represent our client at industry forums, grower groups, and field days, delivering presentations and contributing to thought leadership within the regional agricultural sector.
Ensure all consulting activities comply with workplace health and safety requirements, AgSafe standards, and relevant industry regulations.
