About the role
The Training Officer holds a pivotal position, ensuring the operational excellence and safety compliance of V/Line’s Station Staff and Conductors.
This role is primarily responsible for designing, delivering, assessing and evaluating training programs for Station Staff and Conductors, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to perform their duties effectively and safely, while adhering to V/Line’s policies, standards and frameworks.
Working in a fast-paced environment your proven and demonstrated ability to be agile and multitask will come into action, as you may facilitate a classroom session today, be designing a PowerPoint presentation tomorrow or implementing a new assessment in our Learning Management System.
In addition, this position is responsible for providing staff with a safe workplace where risks are identified, understood and managed, driving best practices to maintain a safe environment for our customers and visitors.
Key accountabilities include:

Design, develop, deliver and assess accredited and non-accredited training programs.

Complete moderation, validation and mapping of accredited courseware.

Facilitate Certificate III in Rail Customer Service Program/sessions.

Facilitate non-accredited training sessions.

Review and update training material and courseware on an ongoing basis.

Ensure training programs align with compliance framework and V/Line policies and procedures, incorporating changes to procedures, legislation and regulatory requirements where required.

Ensure training records are maintained and learning gaps are identified and rectified.

Keep up to date with trends in training to identify and champion new ways to plan and deliver course content.
About you
You are passionate about teaching others and setting high standards for new staff. You model the V/Line values, strive for strong team collaboration and support an inclusive team environment, while instilling strong customer service behaviours and principles.
You strive for safety compliance and understand the importance of following safety critical processes and instructions.
You will have experience providing training, holding a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
In Addition:

Extensive customer facing experience, ideally in rail, aviation or adjacent industries in customer service roles.

Strong safety focus to create a safe environment for people to learn and be assessed.

Highly desirable Certificate III in Rail Customer Service or other Certificate III or higher in customer service

TAE40122 or TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Proven experience developing training materials (PowerPoint presentations, icebreakers, group and individual activities).

Proven experience facilitating ongoing workshops of large classrooms.

Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and LMS software
In addition to facilitating training classes, the Training Officer position, encompasses the ongoing reviewing and updating of accredited and non-accredited courseware and will require an intermediate skillset in Microsoft office suite.
Demonstrated ability and short presentation will occur as part of the interview process.
Additionally, you are approachable, have excellent time management skills and are a strong communicator. You can work independently and in a team environment.
