Geo Civil Laboratories Pty Ltd t/as Geo Civil Laboratories is undertaking targeted recruitment of suitably qualified, Full-Time Civil Engineering Technicians to be a part of their established workforce in Gooburrum, QLD, 4670. With over 20 years of industry experience, the company is a trusted provider of construction materials testing services, specialising in concrete, soils, aggregates, and quarry materials for civil construction projects of all sizes.

Geo Civil Laboratories delivers accurate, timely, and reliable test results, enabling clients to confidently manage site conditions and comply with Australian standards (AS/NZS). These are permanent, Full-Time positions remunerated within the range of AUD $78,000 to $88,000 per annum plus superannuation, benchmarked against market salary rates and commensurate with the technical skill, experience, and accountability required for the position.

Scope of the role:

  • Lead and deliver laboratory and field testing of civil construction materials in accordance with Australian Standards, NATA requirements, project specifications and the company Quality Management System.
  • Plan, coordinate and prioritise daily testing programs to meet client deadlines, production schedules and project turnaround times.
  • Supervise, train and mentor technicians and trainees, ensuring technical competence, compliance with procedures and consistent data integrity.
  • Review, verify and validate test results, calculations and reports for accuracy, compliance and technical soundness prior to release.
  • Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory and field equipment, manage verification schedules and coordinate repairs or replacements.
  • Identify non-conforming work, implement corrective actions and contribute to continuous improvement of testing methods and quality systems.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and site personnel to ensure testing is undertaken in accordance with project requirements, safety plans and site protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, SWMS, JSA and fatigue management, and lead safe work practices across laboratory and field operations.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, including NATA assessments, and assist with development of procedures, work instructions and technical registers.
  • Support field investigations, sampling, inspections and site-based testing across construction projects, quarries and remote locations, including supervision of chain-of-custody and reporting processes.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Diploma of Laboratory Technology or Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction materials testing across laboratory and field environments.
  • Strong technical capability with high attention to detail and sound understanding of Australian Standards and quality systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including supervision, coaching and maintaining safety and quality compliance.
  • must be fit for duty and able to safely perform regular manual handling and physical work.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and electronic data management with strong documentation and reporting discipline.
  • Professional communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, site personnel and internal teams.
  • Candidates must hold a Current Australian Drivers Licence, as the position involves regular travel and may require working away from the base facility.
