Alkemist GC is a Queensland-based café business. The café offers an all-day dining experience with a strong focus on high-quality breakfast, lunch, specialty coffee, fresh juices, smoothies, and signature menu items prepared using premium ingredients.
The business operates seven days per week and provides dine-in services, takeaway offerings, and online ordering. The menu includes all-day breakfast items, signature dishes, bowls, kids’ meals, lunch options, specialty coffee, cold-pressed juices, smoothies, milkshakes, and frappes. Due to the breadth of menu offerings and daily service operations, the business requires dedicated managerial oversight to ensure consistent service standards, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and financial control.
As the business continues to grow, Alkemist GC requires a full-time Café Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and support the sustainability and expansion of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Café Manager at Alkemist GC, you will be responsible for organising and controlling the daily operations of Alkemist GC to ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality food and beverage services. The role requires strong operational management, staff supervision, financial oversight, and compliance with health and workplace regulations.
Responsibilities include:
· Planning and reviewing menus in consultation with kitchen staff, ensuring alignment with customer demand and seasonal availability
· Organising and overseeing daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures
· Planning and coordinating special events and functions where required
· Managing purchasing, pricing, and supplier relationships in line with budgetary requirements
· Monitoring stock levels, placing orders, and maintaining accurate inventory records
· Maintaining financial records, including sales reports, payroll oversight, and cost control
· Ensuring the café complies with food safety standards, WHS requirements, and local council regulations
· Recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising front-of-house and kitchen staff
· Managing staff performance, attendance, and workplace conduct
· Handling customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints to ensure a high standard of customer satisfaction
· Assisting with reservations, greeting customers, and supporting service during peak periods as required
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· A Diploma or higher qualification in hospitality, business, management or a related field is preferred
· At least 3 years of relevant experience in a café or restaurant, if no relevant formal qualification
· Demonstrated experience supervising hospitality staff and managing daily operations
· Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills
· Knowledge of food safety standards and workplace compliance
· Ability to manage customer service standards in a fast-paced hospitality environment
Salary:
This is a full-time position with an annual salary of AUD $75,000-$80,000 plus superannuation, in line with industry standards.
