The Position The trustee for O'Donnell Hennessy & Co Unit Trust t/a O'Donnell Hennessy & Co is looking for an Accountant with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and a relevant bachelor’s degree. This role reports directly to the Director.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Complete financial statements for single and multiple entities and prepare consolidated financial statements when required.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly business activity statements.
  • Maintain the company’s financial and accounting systems.
  • Analyse a company’s income and expenses.
  • Conduct external audit services for large private organisations, non-profit organisations, trusts, and churches.
  • Perform accounting and audit tasks for self-managed super funds (SMSF).
  • Prepare income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies.
  • Handle the preparation of FBT returns.
  • Reconcile accounts and bank statements.
  • Prepare correspondence to clients and other bodies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and legal requirements.
  • Assist with the collation and calculation of amounts for inclusion in tax returns.
  • Aid in the preparation of required documents in the event of business sale and acquisition.
  • Review and strengthen internal control systems, including segregation of duties, fraud prevention measures, and compliance procedures for client entities.
  • Provide advisory services on optimal business structures, entity types, and taxation implications for new setups, restructures, or ongoing operations.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

  • A relevant Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organisational skills & interdependence.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment.
  • Demonstration of commitment to the firm through meeting expectations of integrity and professionalism, including understanding the importance of the client’s relationship.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
