About this opportunity
Council currently have opportunities for experienced horticulturists to join our Parks Team and provide support with the maintenance of our parks, public open spaces, gardens, streetscapes, cemeteries and the operation of Council's nursery.
There are two positions that are based at our Boonah Depot and one position is based at our Tamborine Mountain Depot, although all Parks Team members may be required to travel to and start work from any of Council's depots.
Essential skills and qualifications
- A good attitude and the ability to work well with others and contribute to a great team culture.
- General Construction Induction Training (GCIT) card / White Card
- Certificate III in Horticulture or equivalent competencies gained through structured training or relevant practical experience.Â
- Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle under a C and MR Class Licence.
Desirable skills and qualifications
- An Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control (ACDC) Commercial Operators License, and experience preparing and applying fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides.
- Experience and qualifications in operating and maintaining chainsaws, and trimming and cutting felled trees.
- A Traffic Management Implementation (TMI) ticket, and experience setting up traffic guidance schemes.
- Experience driving an MR truck and towing a tandem trailer.
- Experience operating a ride on mower, and using and maintaining a range of landscaping hand tools and equipment, such as brush cutters, hedger trimers, augers, aerators, tillers etc.Â
What’s in it for you?
This position comes with a base remuneration from $61,898.59, working a 38hr week, 9 day fortnight  and up to 13% employer superannuation contribution.Â
