About the Role

This
position plays a key role in entertainment and special events in
Townsville and the North and working collaboratively across Council
to champion our purpose of Growing Townsville and to deliver the
Corporate Plan in consultation with the Townsville
Community.

Council’s
Performing Arts team, located at the Townsville Civic Theatre,
offer a range of entertainment and special events and provide an
environment to further develop performing arts in Townsville and
the North. The Front of House Usher works under the general
direction of the Front of House Supervisors. The main duties are to
check tickets are valid, show patrons to their seats, monitor their
safety, uphold the Theatre’s policies, provide a high level
of customer service, and respond appropriately in an
emergency.

You

Our
ideal applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated
    customer service skills, with the ability to speak confidently
    and deal with difficult patrons.
  • Good sight,
    hearing, and mobility in order to assist patrons when needed,
    including in a low-light environment.
  • Flexible
    availability - Available to work across seven
    days/nights.
  • Basic literacy
    and numeracy skills.
  • Proven ability
    to work in a small team environment.
  • Problem solving
    abilities and skills.
  • A professional
    and positive attitude.
  • Proven ability
    to direct people in an emergency.
  • Basic knowledge
    of the performing arts industry.

* The Council
contribution to employees' superannuation for contributing
employees shall be 13.5% of the employees' ordinary time earnings
