Business Development Manager

We are a privately owned Hertz franchise operating in a fast-paced, multi-site environment across Queensland. We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive rental vehicle growth across Central and North Queensland, supporting our operations in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Emerald and Moranbah.

This is a hands-on commercial role focused on new business acquisition, account growth and vehicle utilisation, working closely with our operations and fleet teams to maximise performance across the region.

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be primarily responsible for growing our commercial fleet rentals across the region through the acquisition and retention of SME, corporate, government and commercial customers across your territory.

You’ll introduce new clients to our brands, grow existing customer relationships, and take ownership of local account set-up, reporting, utilisation and client interaction. A key focus of the role is ensuring strong commercial fleet utilisation while maintaining service quality and profitability.

This role suits someone who understands how important a fleet provider is to a business, and enjoys autonomy, regional travel, and working closely with operational teams to deliver results.

Key responsibilities

  • Acquire new SME, corporate, government and commercial customers

  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of future rental business and contracts

  • Drive n increase in commercial vehicle rentals and utilisation.

  • Grow revenue and market share within existing accounts

  • Negotiate commercial agreements within approved pricing frameworks

  • Identify up-sell and cross-sell opportunities

  • Work closely with fleet and operations teams to ensure fleet presentation, safety and readiness.

  • Conduct customer meetings, presentations and account reviews

  • Manage account set-up, renewals and contract variations

  • Act as the primary contact for business and corporate customers in the region

  • Provide monthly reporting on new accounts, client spend and market activity

  • Be able to frequently travel across Central and North Queensland to meet the requirements of the role

About you

You’ll bring proven experience in business development, sales or account management, ideally in a regional or multi-site environment. Experience in fleet, automotive, transport, logistics, mining or resources will be highly regarded, but is not essential.

You’ll also have:

  • A strong track record of winning and growing commercial accounts

  • Confidence working with operational and automotive fleet teams

  • Solid sales planning, forecasting and pipeline management skills

  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building capability

  • Experience using CRM systems and standard business tools

  • Ability to work autonomously across a large geographic territory

  • A current Australian driver licence
