Carer / Supervisor – School Transport -Disability support

Family-Owned Bus Company (30+ Years Experience)

We are a family-owned bus company with over 30 years' experience supporting children with disabilities to travel safely and comfortably to and from school.

We typically attract local, compassionate team members who stay with us for many years. Why? Because the work is deeply meaningful. Our company is thoughtful, values people, and together we create a supportive team environment focused on the wellbeing of the children we serve.

Our bus usually transport only 5–7 students, allowing for consistency, calm, and genuine relationships to develop.

About the Role

The role of Carer / Supervisor focuses on providing a safe, calm, and predictable environment for children with disabilities during their daily school transport from Alexandra to Seymour

You are not required to educate, stimulate, or entertain passengers. Instead, your role is to:

  • Support routine and consistency

  • Assist children as needed

  • We are not responsible for lifting, toileting or feeding our travellers

  • Help create a peaceful, restful environment for students who have long school days

You will work with the same 5–7 children regularly, allowing you to understand their individual needs and appreciate their unique personalities.

Work Schedule

  • 40 weeks per year – all school holidays shift free

  • 4 days per week

  • 4 hours per day, split shifts:

Morning: 7:00am – 9:00am (commencing in Yea or Alexandra)

Afternoon: 2:45pm – 4:45pm (commencing in Seymour)

This structure offers a flexible rhythm of work balanced with generous breaks.

Commencing 27 Jan or as soon after that as practical.

Requirements

  • Current Working With Children Check

  • Current First Aid Certificate, including Anaphylaxis

  • Australian work authorisation required

  • Minimum age of 18 years

  1. We are happy to assist the right candidate to obtain this training if not already held

About You

You are kind, patient, and compassionate, with a genuine heart for supporting children with disabilities.

Previous experience in disability support, education support, or aged care would be helpful but is not essential.

We value people who have:

  • Awareness of disability in everyday life

  • A natural willingness to notice and assist others

  • Respect for dignity, choice, and independence

During the recruitment process, we may ask about your exposure to people with disabilities in your own life or community. Lived experience is not required, but simple acts of awareness and kindness matter to us—such as offering help to someone elderly or assisting a person using a wheelchair (always after checking if help is needed).

As a family business, we were raised alongside people impacted by disability, and this shapes how we care for our staff and the children we support.

Why Join Us?

  • Meaningful, purpose-driven work

  • Small, consistent group of children

  • Supportive, family-oriented team culture

  • School holidays and public holidays shift free

  • permanent shifts

If you are looking for work that truly makes a difference and value being part of a thoughtful, caring team, we would love to hear from you.
