About the role

This role offers the opportunity to develop, review, and implement systems, policies, strategies, plans, and procedures to ensure effective governance and management of Council records, in alignment with the Public Records Office of Victoria (PROV) Standards, the Victorian Electronic Records Strategy (VERS), and relevant legislative requirements. This role is pivotal in overseeing the full information lifecycle, ensuring compliance with relevant policies, strategic objectives, and legislative requirements. It provides expert guidance to effectively identify and mitigate potential risks. In addition, the position plays a key role in developing, reviewing, and implementing robust frameworks, policies, systems, and processes to ensure full compliance with Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation.

About you

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in developing, reviewing, and implementing systems, policies, and strategies for information management and governance. They will demonstrate a proven ability to manage the information lifecycle in line with relevant policies and legislation. We’re seeking someone skilled in building cooperation with clients, staff, and the public, and who has the leadership ability to meet objectives under pressure. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, often without readily available guidance, and a solid understanding of organisational values and the broader legal and political context. Success in this position demands strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication. The candidate should thrive in a collaborative team environment, adapt well to change, and show initiative in all aspects of their work.
